Each student works through a logical, progressive program.
The knowledge and skills you need to learn jazz are made clear. Play exercises and repertoire that help you learn, practice, apply, and master these things.
All my students have the opportunity to play in jazz groups as well as private lessons – a chance to apply the lessons for real. This can also be very motivating for students as well as fun.

Saul Richardson

I am an electric guitarist, bass guitarist, and jazz educator. I am the co-founder and principal at Jazz Workshop Australia and can help you, or your child, become great at guitar. My studio is in St Leonards / Crows Nest, near the station and easy to get to from the north shore or city.

Jazz is my speciality, but I can teach all electric guitar styles. I’m more than happy to teach beginners.

I have developed a very effective method for teaching jazz improvisation. Students can make astounding progress through this intensive, yet fun program.

My students can take individual lessons or group jazz lessons with a mixture of other instruments.

I graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours in Education and the University Medal in 1995 and am now finishing a PhD at Sydney University. I studied Jazz guitar under Steve Brien, Steve McKenna, and Dennis Keath, and conducting with Jerry Nowak. I served for two years as Australasian representative on the Executive Board of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE).
