As an experienced teacher and guitarist of eight years with classical and modern plectrum training I aim to provide my students with the material and knowledge to express themselves musically. I teach beginners to intermediate players of all and ages and take great care to be the best teacher I can be.

About the Lessons

I aim to provide beginners with the material and knowledge to ensure that they begin playing and understanding music that they enjoy as quickly as possible. Beginners will be taught through a combination of the Suzuki Method, the Carcassi method and various other publications on technical studies whilst pieces of their own musical taste are supplemented into their repertoire to best express themselves. I offer basic technique, basic chords and exercises through standard notation and tab as well as practise methods within the earliest of lessons and try to get my students playing as many pieces as possible of different styles to create a balanced guitarist and encourage the love of music! I encourage my students to play in groups from time to time and learn to enjoy playing in ensembles. I encourage many of my students to play in The Music Generation Guitar Ensemble which I conduct and rehearse every Saturday in inner Melbourne.

For more intermediate guitarists I encourage technique with and without a pick, the learning of scales and modes, sight-reading, improvisation skills in various styles, arpeggios, music theory and many others aspects of playing that act to develop a more musically literate and social guitarist.

I ensure that lessons are as enjoyable as possible and affordable. Lessons are $40.00 for half an hour or $50.00 for one whole hour. I always ensure that lesson’s duration is generous and that hour long periods are divided into two halves with a break in between. Lessons can be arranged so that I travel to your residence as primarilly I am a travelling teacher and tutor, alternatively I also take lessons from my Carlton home. If you are a beginner and don’t have your own guitar, I may be able to loan you one free of charge until you are able to acquire your own. I have a full Working With Children Check. All lessons are one on one.

As an experienced guitar teacher of five years and guitarist of eleven years with classical and modern plectrum training, I aim to provide my students with the material and knowledge to express themselves musically. I teach beginners to intermediate players of all and ages and take great care to be the best teacher I can be. I specialise in Classical and Jazz styles playing original music in Melbourne regulary in bands Sunnyside and High Society and am currently in my final year at VCA Melbourne University studying Music Improvisation.

Beginners typically begin with songs that they are familiar with from the broad range of pieces that I have arranged for students over years of teachinf countless tudents. With classical students I advise the Carcassi method and various other publications on technical studies whilst pieces of their own musical taste are supplemented into their repertoire to best express themselves. I offer basic technique, basic chords and exercises through standard notation and tab as well as practice methods within the earliest of lessons and try to get my students playing as many pieces as possible of different styles to create a balanced guitarist and encourage the love of music! I encourage my students to play in groups from time to time and learn to enjoy playing in ensembles. I offer classical students the oppurtunity to study AMEB music exams and support their proggress to a acquire recognised grade so that may study music a university if they gain a deep passion in classical playing.

All lessons are one on one.
