Hi, my name is Lucy Wise. I am a professional singer-songwriter, guitarist and ukulele player with over 15 years’ experience performing, recording and touring nationally and internationally. I have taught group workshops in songwriting, ukulele and guitar at schools and major folk festivals across Australia, and I also teach one-on-one private lessons in guitar at my home studio in Coburg.

My Approach:
• I teach with a fun and flexible approach, paying close attention to individual students’ learning needs.
• I help you to develop and work towards your own learning goals.
• I work with you to source music that you want to learn.
• I can teach songs from a range of different genres from folk to pop, to reggae, to rock, to jazz.

What you will learn in my lessons:
• Learn to play songs with ease on the guitar
• Learn to use good technique for maximum ease and minimum strain in playing
• Learn how to use a variety of articulation techniques in the right hand for different rhythmic effects, eg. using a pick, strumming, fingerpicking.
• learn how to play chords and melodies
• learn how to write music through improvisation
• learn how to develop learning goals and good practice habits in order to work towards performances
• Learn how to develop confidence, presence and ease in performance

Experience, Qualifications and Checks:
• 2011 Advanced Diploma of Music (Jazz/Contemporary) – Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE
• Current Working with Childrens’ Check.

Location: Home teaching studio in Coburg, VIC.
