David Groves

In addition to bass, David also teaches guitar and has done so for the last 10 years. He has taught beginners through to intermediate-advanced players.

His strength is teaching reading of musical notation, which can be a challenge for guitarists of all levels! Beginners are especially encouraged for this reason.

He also has a working knowledge of advanced musical concepts such as modes and jazz harmony, if that’s something that interests you!

David Groves

David Groves is a professional bassist, and an experienced and friendly teacher.

David graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance) in 2011, and completed a Master of Music in 2016.

He has performed with acts such as Clare Bowen (of the Netflix show ‘Nashville’), Alan Cumming (of ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Goldeneye’) and Mike Nock (Australian/NZ Jazz legend) and Mirusia (Andre Rieu’s Soprano).

He has performed at most of Sydney’s notable venues (The Opera House, The Enmore, The Metro, Oxford Arts Factory) as well as throughout the country.

He is also an experienced teacher, with 10 years of experience teaching students of all ages privately, and in high schools and primary schools. Last year one of his HSC Music Extension students was accepted into the Sydney Conservatorium jazz program.
