Guitar Lessons
Specialising in classical guitar, I offer a wide range of tuition options catering to all abilities and interests. I can help you achieve your musical goals, whether that be learning for leisure, preparing for an AMEB or VCE exam, or refining your songwriting and composition abilities.
I have a modest, functional teaching space in Elwood, Melbourne, in which I conduct the majority of my private teaching. I am also happy to travel to clients located within inner Melbourne suburbs.
With over 10 years experience including continued instrumental teaching at Port Melbourne Primary, Richmond Primary and St. Michael’s North Melbourne, you can be assured that you are in capable and qualified hands.
Lessons are generally conducted on a one-to-one basis, from 25 minutes to an hour, generally depending on the age and experience level of the student. Small group lessons (up to 3 students) are also available on request.

Born in 1989, Brisbane-born guitarist and composer Curtis Spiers studied at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music working closely with Sydney based teacher and mentor Giuseppe Zangari. During this time, Curtis was involved in a number of contemporary groups and ensembles including ‘Baltic Barmitzvah’, while also honing his abilities in solo classical guitar performance. In 2011, he was awarded the ‘David Jones Memorial Prize’ as part of his studies at the conservatorium, recognising excellence in musicology, theory and aural ability.
After graduating in 2012, Curtis relocated to Melbourne to continue his studies at the University of Melbourne, completing a Master of Music (Performance Teaching) degree – a unique post-graduate degree specialising in advanced music performance practice, research, and teaching instrumental music. During this time he studied with Daniel McKay, notable for his involvement in classical ensembles ‘Guitar Trek’ and the ‘Melbourne Guitar Quartet’.
Teaching regularly around Melbourne’s inner suburban areas, Curtis is a passionate educator who helps aspiring musicians enjoy learning classical and contemporary guitar while instilling positivity and resilience in the face of challenges.
